I-65 reopens after hours-long closure due to snow
Interstate 65 Southbound is now open from Taylorsville, Exit 76 to Seymour, Exit 50. The 60-mile stretch was closed earlier due to the weather and road conditions.
The roadways do remain slick and hazardous. Drivers should expect periodic delays as roadways are closed for crashes and/or road maintenance.
Officials say Tuesday's snowfall and gusty winds contributed to several crashes along I-65.
State police Sgt. Jerry Goodin says no serious injuries were reported in the crashes. He said I-65 had so many collisions and slide-offs that highway crews couldn't treated the slick roadway.
The National Weather Service reports the area's heaviest snowfall was about 4 inches in Seymour.
Meanwhile, in northern Indiana, state police say I-80/94 in Lake County was at a standstill Tuesday afternoon because a band of lake effect snow dropped nearly a foot of snow.
