Hurricane Harvey: How you can help the people of Texas

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - As Houston continues to experience life-threatening flooding, heavy rains, and severe storms, many of you have asked us how you can help.

Here are some places to donate that will help the residents of Texas hit hard by Harvey:

  • The Mayor of Houston has set up a recovery fund for victims of Hurricane Harvey. You can donate to that fund here.

  • WTHR Cares is working with the American Red Cross to collect money for victims. Visit any Kroger store and scan the donation bar code while you check out. Also, any central Indiana Forum Credit Union will let you donate funds to WTHR Cares. You can also donate to the Red Cross online or text 90999 to donate $10.   • Project Purse will be holding a collection at the Garfield Park Farmer's Market on Saturday, September 2nd. They're collecting purses and multiple hygiene products to put inside them to send to Houston. More here:
