Huntingburg and Wabash have been named Indiana's 2014 Stellar Communities.

Lieutenant Governor Sue Ellspermann made the announcement Thursday morning at the Indiana State Fair.

The communities will now have access to millions of dollars in funding for long-term economic development initiatives.

"We are honored to be designated as a Stellar Community by the State of Indiana," said Denny Spinner, mayor of Huntingburg. "The plan we put together is something that will benefit Huntingburg for years to come. We are grateful to those who specifically contributed, as well as the entire community, for all of their input and support during this process."

The other finalists were the cities of Decatur, Marion and Mount Vernon as well as the town of Nashville.
