House Speaker Brian Bosma has sent a letter to the House Ethics Committee requesting an inquiry into the actions of Rep. Eric Turner.

Earlier this week, Democrats asked Bosma to investigate whether Turner (R-Cicero) had violated House ethics rules in fighting a nursing home ban this session.

A bipartisan group of lawmakers proposed banning construction of new nursing homes amid concerns the market was being flooded with new developments. In his letter to Bosma, Zody cited an AP report showing that Turner had lobbied against the measure in private meetings of the House Republican caucus last week.

Turner's son owns and operates an expanding nursing home business, and his daughter was hired as a lobbyist to fight the measure this session.
