Hogsett won't run for Indianapolis mayor in 2015
US Attorney Joe Hogsett says he has no plans to run for Indianapolis mayor in 2015.
Hogsett, a Democrat, was widely speculated as a front runner for the race to challenge incumbent Mayor Greg Ballard.
But on Thursday, he issued a statement saying that he plans to serve the remainder of his term in office, which would make him unavailable for a mayoral campaign.
"This is the best job I have ever had and I am proud of the Office's accomplishments over the last three years. I'm also keenly aware of the challenges that remain and the tasks still undone and I look forward to serving the remainder of my term in office working tirelessly to make this state a safer place for all Hoosiers," Hogsett said in a statement.
Mayor Ballard has not yet said whether he intends to run for a third term.
