The man police say caused a hit-and-run crash that killed a seven-month-old boy appeared in court this morning.

A preliminary plea of not guilty was entered for Gary Shinnamon. Bond was set at $60,000 and a pre-trial date was set for April.

Prosecutors say Shinnamon was driving last week around 38th and Guion Road when he rear-ended a car carrying a family from Chicago.

The impact threw the baby from his car seat. He later died from his injuries.

According to police, Shinnamon left the scene but turned himself in a couple of days later.
