The man accused in a hit and run accident that killed a 6-month-old baby went before a judge Monday morning.

The judge gave 30-year-old Gary Shinnamon a $60,000 bond.

Shinnamon was driving last week around 38th and Guion Road when, according to prosecutors, he rear-ended a car carrying a family from Chicago. The impact threw 6-month-old Yoshway Shafford from his car seat. He later died from his injuries.

Shinnamon left the scene but turned himself in a couple days later, according to police.

He returns to court Wednesday.
