Indianapolis Metro Police believe they know who's responsible for a deadly hit and run crash early Friday morning at Brookville Road and South Arlington Avenue.

The accident, which occurred around 3:15 am, killed 60-year-old Timothy Jacobs from Indianapolis. He was inside a Ford Explorer that was hit by a white utility van that ran a red light in front of Brookeville Liquors store.

Jacobs was pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect left the scene, but police caught him a few blocks away on East Washington Street. Jorge Ortega, 30, is accused of operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

Ortega's passenger was also arrested for possession of a controlled substance.

Ortega was taken to Wishard Hospital for a blood draw.

Traffic was shut down in all directions in the intersection while investigators processed the scene for evidence.  The intersection reopened shortly after 6:15 a.m.
