Hinckley steps down as interim IPS head
Indianapolis Public Schools Interim Superintendent Dr. Peggy Hinckley has stepped down from her position. Thursday, September 5, is her last with the district. Dr. Hinckley started with IPS March 4.
The original agreement with the IPS Board called for Dr. Hinckley to leave September 1. The board asked Dr. Hinckley to remain as her schedule would permit until new superintendent Dr. Lewis Ferebee begins September 23.
Dr. Hinckley had two days remaining in her temporary position, September 18 and 19. However, obligations to her consulting business made it necessary to conclude her work Thursday, IPS said.
Senior staff will provide day-to-day operation of the district until September 23.
