Hartley leads Mystics to win over Fever

Rookie Bria Hartley scored 15 points while Ivory Latta and Tianna Hawkins each added 11 to lead the Washington Mystics to a 79-63 victory over the Indiana Fever on Friday night.

Washington (1-1) took control early with scoring runs of 10-2 and 12-0 en route a 26-point first quarter, the Mystics highest of the young season. They shot 73 percent during the opening 10 minutes, missing just four shots.

They Mystics were able to stretch the lead to 58-34 when Hartley hit a jumper with 3:49 to play in the third quarter.

Maggie Lucas scored 12 points to lead Indiana (0-3), which struggled offensively throughout the night shooting just 35 percent. Despite outscoring Washington in the second quarter 18-14, the Fever were not able to recover from the slow start.

Hartley got the starting nod in place of Latta who had started 35-straight games since joining Washington at the start of the 2013 season.
