Hammer: police have their say

Police in Northern California say it was expired tags - not racial profiling - that caused them to pull MC Hammer over late last week.

The former rap star says he believes he was stopped because he's black - tweeting that the officer who stopped him asked if he were on parole or probation. But a spokesman for the sheriff's office in Alameda County says the officer in Dublin, California stopped Hammer because he was driving a car with expired registration tags.

Police also say Hammer refused to get out of the vehicle and was "very argumentative" with the officer during the stop last Thursday. He was arrested for investigation of obstructing an officer in the performance of his duties.
