Hamilton County EMA sandbags stockpile gone, empty bags available
Due to the great demand for sandbags during this weekend's heavy rains, Hamilton County Emergency Management is currently out of filled bags.
One of the main messages EMA stressed was to prepare for flooding ahead of time. Hamilton County residents took the message to heart and have utilized the stockpile of sandbags to prepare for the possibility of high water.
On Friday, EMA had 3,000 filled bags and area residents have used all those to protect their properties.
Unfilled bags are still available Saturday until 10:00pm and Sunday from 7:00am-10:00am. These are bags only and will not have sand in them.
To obtain the free bags, Hamilton County residents should contact EMA Deputy Director Carl Erickson at 317-716-1957 during those hours.
As of Saturday afternoon, there have been no reports of major flooding in the county. A Flood Warning is in effect for Hamilton County from Sunday morning through Tuesday.
