An Indiana sex offender charged with killing his former girlfriend and her two young children and sexually assaulting her teen daughter in southern Colorado is expected to plead guilty Monday.
The Canon City Daily Record reports that 31-year-old Jaacob Van Winkle has agreed to plead guilty to all charges against him in exchange for a life sentence.
Van Winkle is accused of stabbing a 35-year-old woman and her 9-year-old daughter and 5-year-old son on March 9 in Canon City. Police say her 16-year-old daughter escaped and ran to a neighbor's for help.
He was convicted in Indiana of child molestation and other sex crimes involving girls as young as 5 and 7 in 2004. He failed to register as a sex offender after moving to Canon City.
