INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - You have the opportunity to have a nice meal for free and help honor fallen Southport Police Lt. Aaron Allan.

The Trooper Bartram Memorial Foundation plans to honor Lt. Allan at its annual "Christmas for Kids". The new Metro Diner in Plainfield opens for a trial run Aug. 20, and you can make a reservation to come in and try breakfast, lunch or dinner for free, including up to two adult beverages. They'll be open from 9 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.

In place of paying for the meal, they're encouraging you to donate to the foundation. That money will be used for this year's "Shop With a Cop." Organizers expect the event to help more than 200 kids this year, and it was something Lt. Allan loved to take part in.

If you're interested in getting a free meal for your family, just call Metro Diner at (317) 214-8715 to make a reservation for up to five people.
