Georgetown triumphs over Butler 70-67 in overtime

Aaron Bowen's dunk with 52 seconds left in overtime lifted Georgetown over Butler 70-67 on Saturday.

Bowen finished with 11 points, none bigger than the two that went on the scoreboard after his thunderous dunk. That bucket gave the Hoyas (11-4, 3-1 Big East) a slim, but timely, lead that stood for the victory.

Bowen tipped a pass from Butler's Alex Barlow into the hands of Markle Starks, who then fed it back to Bowen for the jam.

D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera led the Hoyas with 18 points and five assists, while Starks added 15.

Georgetown held the lead for the first 36-plus minutes, but Andrew Chrabascz converted two free throws to put the Bulldogs (10-6, 0-4) up 53-52 with 2:52 in regulation.

Starks drilled a three to tie it at 60 with 15 seconds to go, sending the game to overtime.

Butler's Kellen Dunham led all scorers with 21 points.
