Funeral held today for Fishers stabbing victim
Friends and family will gather today to say their final goodbyes to a Hamilton County teenager stabbed to death during a fight.
Services will be held for Connor Shockley at the Holy Spirit at Geist Catholic Church. Shockley was fatally stabbed in a fight Sunday night.
Police say the fight between Shockley and 18-year-old Corbin Montgomery was over Montgomery's girlfriend.
Montgomery faces murder and involuntary manslaughter charges. His next hearing is set for September.
Montgomery sobbed as he pleaded not guilty during the video hearing earlier this week.
The Hamilton County coroner found that Shockley died from three stab wounds. Shockley was stabbed in his torso, including the middle of his chest. That wound reached his heart. He also had multiple superficial cuts to his neck and defensive wounds on his hands.
Montgomery told investigators that he and Shockley had been arguing via text messages and social media over Montgomery's girlfriend.
Shockley and Montgomery met Sunday night. Shockley got into Montgomery's car and, according to Montgomery, ran off with Montgomery's cell phone. Montgomery grabbed a knife and chased after Shockley. Montgomery told police Shockley punched him, and that Montgomery stabbed Shockley in self-defense.
