Funeral for IMPD Officer Renn set for July 11; See procession route

Funeral arrangements have been set for Indianapolis Metro Police Officer Perry Renn.

Visitation/Viewing Crown Hill Funeral Home: Thursday, July, 10, 2014 at 2pm-8pm.

Funeral Services Banker's Life Fieldhouse: Friday, July 11, 2014 at 11:00am

Both events are open to the public.

Procession route on Friday:

The procession proceeds north on Pennsylvania and east on Washington to Delaware where it heads north, then along Fall Creek Parkway to 30th St where it proceeds east.

The procession will stop in front of IMPD North District on 30th St. where dispatch will issue the final 10-42 for Officer Renn.

After the 10-42, the procession goes under the Garrison Flag which will be very close to North District.

The procession then heads east on 30th St to Sherman Dr and north on Sherman to 38th St. West on 38th St to Boulevard. South on Boulevard to the 34th St Entrance at Crown Hill.

A memorial has been set up at IMPD's North District headquarters (3120 E. 30th Street, Indianapolis) where Renn was stationed. His patrol car will be on display until Friday.

On Monday, Sgt. Jo Moore, whose son David Moore died in the line of duty in 2011 - about a mile away from where Officer Renn was killed - placed Renn's framed photo on a wall with other fallen IMPD officers' pictures.

"I'm sad that I'm having to do it again, but the realistic aspect of police work is that we will be doing it again, and again, and again," she said. "I get to honor Officer Renn and his family by making sure he is given all the award and credit he deserves for giving his life for the city of Indianapolis."

Donations may be made in Officer Renn's name to Best Friends Animal Society.

Memorial contributions can be made in Perry's name to the Indianapolis Police Foundation of the FOP or checks made out to The Indianapolis Police Foundation can be sent to the FOP at 1525 South Shelby Street, Indianapolis, IN 46204.
