Funeral arrangements set for worker who died in tunnel accident

Isaac Simpson

Funeral arrangements are set for the construction worker who was killed in an accident at the Deep Rock Tunnel Connector last week.

The viewing for 25-year-old William Isaac Simpson will be held Saturday, June 21 at Cicero United Methodist Church from 2-4 pm, with a funeral service to follow from 4-6 pm.

The accident is still under investigation, and while the work site has been cleared to continue, work has not yet resumed out of respect for Simpson's family.

Simpson died last Friday while working inside the tunnel, which is 250 feet below ground. He was deep inside the tunnel under downtown Indianapolis with between eight to ten workers when the accident occurred.

The coroner found that Simpson died from massive blunt force trauma to the head.

Citizens Energy has not provided any details about the incident.
