Fun. guitarist Jack Antonoff was given the first key to the city in his hometown of Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey, on Monday.

A comment from the mayor nearly sparked a riot. The Woodland Park Record reports Mayor Jeffrey Goldsmith called up the children of council members to take photos with Antonoff, saying, "Their parents have got to have some advantage of doing this."

Other children and parents protested and pushed toward the tables separating them from the council dais. They were allowed past the tables as attempts were made for a mass photo with Antonoff, but it turned into a free-for-all.

Antonoff smiled and accommodated fans for about 15 minutes until police escorted him out of the building.
