Freezing cold suspends trash service in Indianapolis
The Department of Public Works says there will be no trash pick-up in Indianapolis on Friday due to subzero temperatures.
Crews collecting trash and recycling on Thursday experienced delays due to the dangerous cold, which affects equipment and the crew members. Homes where trash was not collected on Thursday will be collected on Saturday.
Due to the slide schedule for pick-up from the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday, DPW says customers who normally have their trash collected Friday will now have it picked up on Sunday.
Crews ask if your route is not completed, to leave trash out for pick up the following day and also clear snow and ice away from trash to facilitate collection.
