Frankfort woman sentenced to five years for crash that injured children

The woman accused of crashing her car into two children on bicycles will spend five years behind bars.

 Heather McDaniel pleaded guilty last month to Operating While Intoxicated and causing serious bodily injury.

Court records show McDaniel had a blood-alcohol content of nearly twice the legal limit at the time of the crash. Police say she had prescription pills In her car.

The accident happened last August along State Road 39 in Clinton County.

The two children, 16-year-old McKenna Davis and her brother, 12-year-old Hunter Davis, both survived with several broken bones. On Wednesday, they testified at McDaniel's sentencing hearing.

Besides serving five years in prison, McDaniel will lose her driver's license for three years after her release.
