Four people shot outside Kokomo bar
Police are investigating a multiple shooting at a south side bar and strip club early Sunday morning.
It happened about 3:15 am at the Ultimate Place 2 B Bar and Show club along the 5100 block of Clinton Drive
Four people were shot, with three people taken to hospitals via air ambulance.
As of mid-morning police had no information available on the condition of the victims, who they are, what transpired or the relationship of the people involved.
Police did say there were no suspects in custody.
Police still had the parking lot closed off at 10 am Sunday as they collected evidence and took pictures of the crime scene.
Several passers-by slowed down to see what was going on
Vickie Townsend, visiting family from Joliet, snapped a few pictures. She spent Saturday night at a nearby hotel.
"I heard a lot of music and commotion," she said and what sounded like fireworks.
She was surprised to learn what happened "because this is Kokomo. It's a nice little town... You expect that in big cities but not here."
Another woman who stopped briefly said the strip club opened about a dozen years ago amid strong opposition. She said there have been battles over renewal of its liquor license.
Eyewitness has covered other stories related to the bar and strip club including an assault and a zoning battle over its proximity to a school.
Police said they would send out more information on the shooting later today
