Fort Wayne courthouse locked down as items checked

The federal courthouse in downtown Fort Wayne was on lockdown for more than an hour until police determined a suspicious pile left outside the building posed no danger.

Police reopened streets near the courthouse late Tuesday morning after a bomb squad robot lifted up a discarded shirt and found nothing dangerous underneath it. WANE-TV and WPTA-TV report police say the pile was suspicious because of how the man dropped the items and how he initially answered questions from officers.

The Fort Wayne action came a day after authorities checked out separate suspected explosives at a federal courthouse and a federal office building several hours apart in Indianapolis.
