Former student sues Martinsville schools over molestation
A former Martinsville High School student molested by two coaches has filed a lawsuit against the school.
Jeffrey McGown and Timothy Wolf both pleaded guilty last year to child seduction and admitted molesting the same girl.
The victim's lawsuit claims the Martinsville School Corporation was negligent and failed to provide a safe learning environment and protect her from foreseeable harm. The girl's attorney declined to comment on the lawsuit, but the school district said in a statement that it will take action if inappropriate conduct is uncovered.
"Our top priority is the well-being of all our students and we will always make decisions based on what is best for the students of Martinsville schools. If inappropriate conduct is identified, we will take immediate corrective action, up to and including discipline and termination of staff," the statement read.
