Former Franklin Township superintendent arrested for DUI

Former Franklin Township Superintendent Walter Bourke was arrested for driving while intoxicated following a crash last Sunday near Kendallville.

According to the police report, Bourke had a blood alcohol content of .26, which is more than three times the legal limit.

Bourke, who was the executive director for the Indiana Association of Public School Superintendents, has resigned his position.

The group issued this statement: "The Indiana Association of Public School Superintendents accepted the resignation of IAPSS Executive Director, Dr. Walter Bourke, citing personal reasons. A search will begin immediately for a new Executive Director. In the near future, an interim will be appointed during the selection process."
