Flooding threat leaves some residents nervous
Central Indiana is under a flood warning and heavy rain is expected to move in Thursday night. Residents in the Ravenswood neighborhood quickly get concerned when the rain falls.
Couple that with melting snow and ice from our record-breaking winter snowfall, and neighbors are understandably on edge about what may happen in their backyard.
"I believe it was April of last year we got about eight inches of rain and the whole place was flooded," said longtime resident Jim Holliday.
He is scrambling to do everything he can to avoid a repeat.
Holliday spent Thursday clearing storm drains and trying to clear a path for the melting snow and the rain that's expected to fall.
"The ground is saturated and when the snow melts it just gets more saturated and then it rains and it just sits on top," Holliday said.
Others have their sandbags out and ready to keep the water out of their home as they prepare to weather yet another storm.
"What are you going to do about it? It doesn't matter if it's coming or not you just have to live with it," he said.
