Flood damage includes Kokomo pool
Damage from last month's flooding is forcing repairs to a central Indiana city's pool that officials say will keep it from opening on time.
Workers at the Kokomo Beach Aquatic Center found significant cracking to the main pool's concrete last week while trying to fill it with water. City parks superintendent John Martino says he suspects pressure from the April 19 flooding caused the cracking and that at least one of the pool's water supply lines was damaged.
The pool had been scheduled to open Saturday. Martino tells the Kokomo Tribune that engineers are expected to inspect the pool Friday and he hopes for quick repairs.
The flooding damaged more than 300 homes in Kokomo as Wildcat Creek reached its highest level since record keeping started in the 1950s.
