Fishers unveils CodeRED today

Your smartphone could soon help save your life.

The Town of Fishers is testing its new CodeRED system today. The high speed notification system that will give Fishers officials the ability to quickly deliver messages to targeted areas or to the entire town in emergency situations.

The town can launch a phone call, send an email and even text residents who are signed up for the service. You will then receive public safety information, and even weather related threats right to your phone.

To register for the service, log onto the town's website and look for CodeRED and follow the instructions. Keep in mind CodeRED is geographically based, so you will have to provide your address.

Today's test call will be launched at 1:00 p.m. for everyone taking advantage of the service.
