Fishers council approves development project at train station
Councilors approved a development near the Fishers train station Monday night.
The town council approved the $28 million plan to tear down the station and replace it with an apartment building, retail space and a 400-space parking garage. The train platform would remain and get improvement.
The town manager says the project is part of the town's master plan approved a year and a half ago, but not everyone who attended Monday's meeting was in favor of tearing down the train station.
"I really hate all this construction. I hope when they get done with it, it will be better, but I think they're trying to make it look too much like Carmel," said resident Mary Ray.
Construction on the project should begin this summer and be finished by the fall of 2015.
