PARACHUTE, COLORADO (KKCO) -When you think of a drive-thru, fast food probably comes to mind. But what about marijuana? Tumbleweed Express Drive-Thru in Parachute, Colorado is the first of its kind. After nearly a year of preparation, the drive-thru pot shop opened for business on 4/20.

"Their timing couldn't have been better in my opinion, I mean everybody wants to celebrate," said Kyle Steele, a customer at the drive-thru.

Ridge Curington said it's not your typical drive-thru.

"It is a stand-alone building you drive your car into, and the doors close behind you so you're technically inside of the dispensary inside of your automobile," he explained.

There are some rules on rolling through.

"You have to be 21 years of age to come in, everybody in the car has to be 21 years of age, you can't come in with anyone under age," said Curington. "Everybody has to have their ID's checked at the point of entrance, as well as the point of sale."

First, cars line up.

"It'll be fun to be the first one through," said Carolyn Vaughan. a customer.

Customers will then place their orders and pick up their bud.

"The Durban Haze, from the platinum shelf," said Steele.

The drive-thru has about 15 different strands: lower, middle, and top tiers.

"Bronze shelf, $6 a gram, $20 for the 8th and it goes up from there with the 8th pricing," said Curington. "Our gold shelf, $10 for the gram and $30 for the 8th, our platinum shelf will be $12 for a gram and $35 for the 8th."

Tumbleweed Companies said its a unique take on a pot shop.

"We're super excited to kind of be the first, provide a new service to Colorado that hasn't been seen before," said Curington.

So if pot, or Mary Jane, is on the menu, drive on thru and fast.

"A great process, an extension of the service for medical and recreational marijuana," said Vaughan. "I'm real excited."

So far, it's already a hit.

"Overall, I would say a 10 out of 10 for the first ever drive-thru experience in a dispensary," said Steele.

The drive-thru will be open Thursday through Sunday; from 4:00 p.m. to 12 a.m. Tumbleweed is looking to add two more locations in Colorado, one in Frisco and the other in Carbondale.
