Firefighters battle Fountain Square blaze

Firefighters have brought a fire under control in a building in Fountain Square.

The fire was reported at 1026 Virginia Avenue around 9 p.m. Monday. Heavy smoke and fire were showing from the third floor when firefighters arrived. They were able to mark the fire under control after about an hour.

A frozen yogurt shop and antiques store are among the businesses located on the bottom floor of the building.

No injuries were reported and damage is estimated at $200,000. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
