A fire forced the evacuation of the administrative building for Marion Community Schools Tuesday morning. No one was injured.

The cause of the fire is unclear at this point.

The fire caused alarms to sound at around 9:00 am. An hour later, firefighters remained on the scene but the fire appeared to be out. Most of the damage appeared to be on the roof, although the full extent of the damage has yet to be determined.

The district office building will remain closed until further notice, and no one will be allowed in the building. Employees are warned not to attempt to go inside to get their personal belongings. They are advised to contact the maintenance department to arrange that.

Payroll is not expected to be disrupted.

All calls are being routed to Tucker Career and Technology Center offices. Plans are being made to set up temporary workspaces.
