IFD crews are on the scene of a fire at Slammin' Sammies Bar and Grill at 2136 West Morris Street on the southwest side.

Dispatch received several 911 calls around 5:30 a.m. Friday.  Fire crews found visible smoke pouring out of the single-story building that houses Slammin' Sammie's, described as a neighborhood bar.  The bar was closed at the time of the fire.

The owner's brother, Samuel Lamb, says he closed up after checking everything out.

The fire was under control in 20 minutes and fire officials estimate damage at $80,000. Smoke detectors were working and no one was injured.
