Fire crews battled a garage fire behind a house in the 3900 block of Fletcher Ave. overnight.

They were called out at 4:00 a.m. Friday morning on a report of a vehicle on fire inside the garage.

Firefighter said the fire started in the car parked between the house and detached garage, and spread to both.

Power lines were down in the area and arcing over the garage.

Firefighters were able to get the garage under control after it sustained heavy damage, then focused on the house, where flames were visible in the attic.

Investigators are trying to determine the source of a heavy gas odor in the area, according to IFD spokesman Larry Tracy.

Damage is estimated at $60,000.

There are no reports of injuries.
