Fever's Douglas to miss game with back injury
Indiana Fever guard Katie Douglas is the latest Fever player to miss time due to injury early in this 2013 season. Douglas has been diagnosed with a bulging disc in her lower back and will miss Saturday's game with the Phoenix Mercury. She will be listed as day-to-day thereafter.
On Wednesday prior to a day game at New York, Douglas woke up with a sore back and stayed at the team hotel during the Fever's overtime loss to the Liberty, as Indiana played with just eight players. She was further evaluated by the Fever medical staff on Thursday and ruled out for Saturday's game.
Douglas is now the fourth Fever player found on the injured list. Jessica Davenport (left tibia stress fracture), Erin Phillips (torn right meniscus) and Jeanette Pohlen (torn left ACL) all are expected to remain out of action until at least midseason.
