State police say a North Vernon man who died in a single vehicle crash may have been using his cell phone at the time of the crash.

Investigators say Steven C. Litzy, 24, was driving south on SR 7 near CR 600 South in Jennings County around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday when his Honda Accord left the roadway. The vehicle struck a drainage ditch and flipped several times before coming to rest on its top.

Litzy was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated. He was taken to Jennings County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Police say preliminary investigation indicates Litzy may have been distracted by cell phone usage, which caused him to leave the roadway.
