Excise Officers Cite 53 in West Lafayette
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind.
Indiana State Excise Police officers issued 53 tickets during Purdue University's Grand Prix events this weekend.
The majority of those ticketed by State Excise Police officers were charged with alcohol-related offenses that included illegal possession or consumption of alcohol and possession of false ID. Nine adults were also charged with furnishing alcohol to minors.
One man was jailed shortly after 6:30 p.m. on Friday after he attempted to flee from officers.
Adam T. Fulk, 19, of Schererville, Ind., was arrested inside the Wal-Mart located on Northwestern Avenue after he was observed purchasing an alcoholic beverage using a false ID. When Fulk was approached by Excise Officers as he neared the exit, he attempted to flee by pushing one of the officers. Fulk then fought with officers briefly before he was placed in handcuffs.
Fulk was taken to the Tippecanoe County Jail on preliminary charges of battery on law enforcement (felony), resisting law enforcement, illegal possession of alcohol and possession of false ID. One Excise Officer sustained minor injuries during the incident.
