A former teacher at the Indiana School for the Blind and Visually Impaired was sentenced to two years in prison after pleading guilty to a single count of sexual misconduct with a minor.

61-year-old Al Lovati pleaded guilty to an inappropriate relationship with a female student.

Friday morning, a judge sentenced him to two years in prison and four years on sex offender probation.

The school fired the computer technology teacher when it found out about the relationship last September.

Lovati agreed to plead guilty and prosecutors dropped two other sexual misconduct counts, three child seduction counts and one official misconduct count.

A probable cause affidavit says the female student told detectives she and Lovati had sex while attending a conference in Florida and engaged in other sexual acts on several occasions after classes at the Indianapolis school. The incidents occurred between August 2012 and March 2013.
