An Evansville woman was arrested Thursday night after Indiana State Police say she tried to put a trooper in a headlock.

Police arrested 34-year-old Amber Carter outside Fester's Bar near Mt. Vernon.

A trooper was called to the bar after someone reported a female customer inside who was performing a strip tease. When the trooper arrived, an employee told him the woman had left.

While the trooper was still in the parking lot, a truck pulled up. Police say the driver had tried to take the woman home, but decided to bring her back to the bar after she attempted to scratch him and refused to give him directions.

The woman, later identified as Amber Carter, appeared to be extremely intoxicated and smelled strongly of alcohol. The trooper offered her the chance to call someone to pick her up, but she kept dropping her phone and turning it on and off.

The trooper says Carter tried to put her in a headlock, and continued to shout at the driver who brought her back to the bar. At that point she was arrested. Inside the patrol car, the trooper says she kicked the window.

Carter was taken to the Posey County Jail, where she continued to be uncooperative. She is currently being held on bond on charges including public intoxication and disorderly conduct.
