Eric Yutzy joined the Eyewitness News team as weekend sports anchor in January 2010. Originally from Peabody, Massachusetts, Eric graduated from Quinnipiac University in Connecticut and started his career as a reporter for WKEF-TV in Dayton, Ohio. He then moved to Atlantic City, New Jersey and was a reporter and sports anchor for WMGM-TV. He spent the last six years in Nashville, Tennessee as a weekend sports anchor for WTVF-TV before joining the WTHR family.
Eric has received numerous honors including the Associated Press "Best Sportscaster – Tennessee" award and "Best Sports Feature Story – Tennessee" award. He also received an Emmy for "Best Sportscaster-MidSouth." Eric enjoys searching out features and individual stories in the community that show what really goes on behind the scenes in sports.
"From a young Predators fan dying of Lymphoma who changed the community to the emotional first win for a high school football team that had not won a game in 7 years…I love telling these stories as much as I love covering the big games, maybe even more so," says Eric.
Eric is very service-oriented and volunteers his time with many organizations including the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Boys and Girls Club, and Big Brothers Big Sisters. In his free time he enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons, playing basketball, reading, and working out.
