E. Indiana college puts plans for windmill on hold
An eastern Indiana college has placed its plans for a wind turbine on hold.
Earlham College officials told the Richmond Board of Zoning Appeals last week that the zoning requests for the site of the proposed windmill had been postponed indefinitely.
The school's application included requests to increase height limitations for the windmill tower from 140 to 330 feet and rotor diameter from 200 to 375 feet.
The Palladium-Item reports that an Earlham spokesman says college officials plan to meet with neighbors to discuss the proposed project.
The college says in a statement that it remains committed to improving the environment. But neighbors concerned about noise complained the proposed windmill would be too close to their homes.
