Investigators are trying to figure out what caused a driver to veer off the interstate and flip his pick-up truck near the south split early Sunday morning.

It happened about 2:23 a.m.

Officials say the 60-year-old male driver had just gotten on I-70 west from the south split, when his truck left the road.  It overturned in the median.

Firefighters had to use special tools to remove the windshield from the truck so the driver could climb out.

He was transported to Wishard Hospital in stable condition.

A portion of I-70 was closed for about 15 minutes during the incident.
