Driver dies in Bloomington sprint car crash

A 22-year-old sprint car driver died has died after a crash at the Bloomington Speedway.

Monroe County Coroner Nicole Meyer told The Herald-Times that 22-year-old Joshua Burton of Bloomington died at 11:45 a.m. Saturday at IU Health Bloomington Hospital.

He was injured in a crash at the speedway about 10:15 p.m. Friday night.

Another annual sprint car race in Anderson, Ind. was postponed due to persistent rain showers on Friday night.  The 65th Pay Less Little 500 will now run on Sunday Night at 8 p.m. at Anderson Speedway.

Over $123,000 will be up for grabs.  Organizers call it the richest asphalt Sprint Car race in the country.  The winning team earning a minimum of $25,000.
