Dozens dead, over 100 injured in Spain train crash
A local government official says at least 35 people were killed in a high-speed train crash in northwestern Spain.
The head of the Galicia region where the crash occurred said another 100 people were injured in the crash.
The train derailed near the Santiago de Compestela station throwing passenger cars off the tracks, splitting some open and some passengers were thrown from the cars.
One witness said he heard an explosion before seeing the derailed train.
Rescue workers worked to get into passenger cars that were lying on their sides and some were on top of each other.
The train was traveling from Madrid to el Ferrol on the coast, a popular vacation spot.
