Demolition work begins on Bush Stadium
Work is beginning to transform old Bush Stadium into loft apartments.
Chopper 13 flew over the 81-year-old ballpark on West 16th Street Thursday.
Crews have started demolishing parts of the old stadium that will not be part of the apartment building. Heavy equipment is knocking out the old stands and removing the remaining seats.
Bush Stadium was built in 1931 and was used for baseball games until 1996.
It will turn into a complex of 136 apartments in a $22 million project. This is the first time an old ballpark has been turned into an apartment complex.
