Crossover ramp work begins at I-465 and I-65 on south side
You 'survived the south split.' Now another construction project is about to begin that will slow down your commute from the south side.
This one affects traffic at I-465 and I-65.
Anyone who knows or drives that stretch of interstate, knows that right at the spot where 465 and 65 meet, traffic bottle-necks and can get backed up for miles.
Works crews tonight will shift traffic on both sides of I-65 near the ramp to 465.
The plan is to install construction equipment in the median to build a new fly-over ramp from westbound 465 to 65.
Crews are also expected to improve bridges in the area and widen the highway in spots, so hopefully that will help with some of the congestion that happens during rush hour.
The project expected to last through the Spring of 2015, about a year and a half.
