Indianapolis Fire Department responded to a report of an SUV crashed into an apartment around 4:45 a.m. Monday in the 4500 block of Glenarm Drive.

No one was home at the time, but the 35-year-old driver of the SUV was injured.

IFD and police are still investigating the incident, but believe the cause to be distracted driving.

"Unfortunately distracted driving offers the opportunity for this to happen more than you think," said IFD Capt. Rita Reith. "Lucky that no one was home tonight. It's about making sure everyone is paying attention while driving."

IFD is working to stabilize the apartment building, Springhill Apartments. The building sustained $15,000 in damage.
