Four apartments were damaged at the Parc Bordeaux Apartments on the Indianapolis south side around noon Friday.

Thirteen units from the Indianapolis Fire Department were called to the scene at 4920 Rue Vallee. That's near Thompson Road and I-65.

The fire took about 45 minutes to get under control and caused about $400,000 in damage. Firefighters battled frigid temperatures as well as the blaze.

Heavy smoke and fire was raging through the second story of the building when they arrived. The fire spread quickly to the attic, roof and other units. Extra companies were called in to assist.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No injuries were reported. Firefighters say smoke detectors were working and that they activated.

The apartments sustained fire, smoke and water damage and displaced four families. IFD Victims' Assistance on scene to help provide shelter for those displaced by the fire.
