Firefighters are battling a two-alarm fire at a building on the east side of Indianapolis.

The fire broke out shortly before 7 p.m. Thursday in the 3700 block of East 9th Street. Smoke can be seen rising from the fire from several points across Indianapolis.

IFD reported on Twitter more than 70 firefighters are fighting the fire with 20 apparatuses at the former Continental Metal Products building. Neighbors told firefighters the building has been unoccupied for about 10 years.

The roof of the building partially collapsed about an hour after the fire started. Firefighters were also checking for embers that may have fallen in nearby neighborhoods.

The fire was marked under control about two-and-a-half hours after it started. There were no injuries reported.
