This year's Half a Million Dollar Weather Challenge will allow Colts fans to submit their gameday weather predictions at each of the team's 2014 home and away games.

Fans will also be able to guess whether the roof of Lucas Oil Stadium will be open or closed for each home game.

The contest gives participants a chance to win $500,000.

Entries will be accepted online beginning today through Aug. 7 at noon.

The challenge was created to build excitement around the team's schedule and to give fans an opportunity to participate in a fun, and potentially very rewarding, promotion.

"The weather is a common topic of conversation for both casual and avid NFL fans around the country as each gameday draws near," said Stephanie Pemberton, senior director of marketing for the Colts. "We designed the Half a Million Dollar Weather Challenge to generate even more excitement around this often-discussed topic and allow fans to give their best weather predictions for the season."

It may sound easy...but don't get too excited. The National Weather Service tweeted today:

Odds of precisely predicting 20 days of specific temps at more than 10 days ahead may be around 54,000,000,000,000,000,000,000:1.
